Accessibility Statement
Last updated 6 iul 2026
1. Scope
This accessibility statement applies to the edih.md website and all its public pages, operated by ACETI — Association for Information Technologies, within the EDIH Moldova project, co-funded by the European Union.
2. Conformance status
The edih.md website is partially conformant with the success criteria of WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, conformance level AA), published by W3C, and with European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1. Non-conformities and exceptions are listed in section 5.
3. Our commitment
EDIH / ACETI are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all people, including those with visual, motor, auditory or cognitive disabilities. We consider accessibility an ongoing priority, not a one-time objective.
4. Accessibility measures implemented
- Colour contrast — minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface elements (criteria 1.4.3 and 1.4.11 WCAG 2.1)
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive functionality is accessible exclusively via keyboard (criterion 2.1.1)
- Visible focus indicators — active elements display a clear focus outline (criterion 2.4.7)
- Semantic HTML structure — correct heading hierarchy (h1–h6), page landmarks (main, nav, footer) (criterion 1.3.1)
- lang attribute — defined on the html element for each available language (criterion 3.1.1)
- ARIA labels — aria-label, aria-expanded, aria-current attributes on interactive elements (criterion 4.1.2)
- Alternative text for images — all informative images have a descriptive alt attribute; decorative images have alt="" (criterion 1.1.1)
- Text resizing — the site remains usable at 200% zoom without loss of content or functionality (criterion 1.4.4)
- Responsive design — content fully usable on mobile devices and tablets (criteria 1.3.4, 1.4.10)
- Reduced motion — animations are automatically disabled for users with the prefers-reduced-motion setting active (criterion 2.3.3)
- Screen reader support — tested with NVDA + Chrome and VoiceOver + Safari
5. Partially inaccessible content
The following elements are not fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA at the date of preparation of this statement:
- Legacy PDF documents — some previously published PDF documents are not semantically tagged and may be difficult to navigate with screen readers. We are working to regenerate these as tagged PDFs. Alternatively, HTML versions of the content are available on request.
- Video content — videos embedded from third-party platforms (e.g. YouTube) do not have subtitles generated by us. We use the automatic subtitles available on those platforms; we are working on adding manual subtitles for materials produced by EDIH.
- Interactive maps — embedded maps (e.g. Google Maps) are not fully keyboard-accessible; the textual address is displayed as an alternative.
- Third-party content — widgets or integrations from third parties may not fully comply with WCAG standards. We notify our partners of these requirements.
6. Technical information
Accessibility of the edih.md website relies on the following technologies:
- HTML5
- CSS3 (Tailwind CSS v4)
- JavaScript (Next.js / React)
- WAI-ARIA 1.2
The site has been tested with:
- NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) + Google Chrome — Windows
- VoiceOver + Safari — macOS and iOS
- TalkBack + Chrome — Android
- axe DevTools (browser extension) for automated auditing
- Lighthouse Accessibility audit (target score ≥ 95)
7. Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared through internal self-assessment carried out by the EDIH team, in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.
Date of preparation: June 2025
Last reviewed: June 2026
